I have a relatively new install of Windows 10 and it is currently running build 1809 and do you think I can get it to browse to a network share. If I do the standard thing of typing in a host name into file explorer as “\\nas2” it should bring me back all the available shares, but not now, now I get:
It seems there is a bug. Microsoft has described a work around involving putting together a cmd and powershell script:
Mapped network drives don’t work in Windows 10, version 1809
Its actually quite bizarre but for me the fix was to simply add but the “SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support”. Simply find the control panel and either go straight to:
Programs and Features | Turn Windows features on or off
or
Programs | Programs and Features | Turn Windows features on or off
Simply select all the “SMB” boxes highlighted below and click ok. Sorry to say it will require a reboot, but hopefully it will fix your problems.
